Hello,
I just got this message (" Our system indicates unusual usage of your
account. In order to protect Gmail users from potentially harmful use
of Gmail, this account has been disabled for up to 24 hours."). The
only new thing I've added is Google Talk; other than that I've been
using Gmail normally. The contact details
("gmail-EMAIL REMOVED") won't get me through to anything other
than the Google homepage. Any ideas what this might be about?

PS: I'm about as un-geeky as it gets.

Maybe a virus is sending email messages with an email client program
using POP3 connection? Maybe you have sent a lot of messages?

Thanks Tomi. I ran a virus check which didn't find anything, and I've
not sent any more messages than usual. Interestingly, about 1 hr after
I posted my message to Google Help, the "lockdown" was unlocked and I
had access to my email again. I'm still not sure what happened but I'm
glad it un-happened.

Happens to me too and there is no cure for it. I am in a lot of groups
and I get a lot of email. If I miss one day (I have been sick) when I
try and get through BAM I am locked. This just happened and I have 1200
emails left to get through.

I donlt understand what they are trying to prevent happening. Can
someone clarify?
