Default Tamil in Google - 05-14-2007, 09:59 AM

While I congratulate the effort by Google to provide search facilities
in Tamil and am grateful, I wish to highlight to Google that some of
the Tamil fonts used by Google are NOT consistent with the accepted
norm among Tamils anywhere.

These illegal injections into Tamil tend to confuse and frustrate the
readers. For example, "ru "and "re" do not look Tamil at all. There
many such unilateral inventions by individuals whose work is neither
acknowledged nor authorised by any responsible body on Tamil. There is
no school or government that uses these characters. The unsuspecting
public is made to suffer needlessly. Non-Tamils who are interested in
the language would it finding it even more confusing.

I hope that Google will cease to use all illegal characters introduced
in the name of Tamil, both in the interest of of its Tamil users and
in line with its principle of good corporate governance.

Regards,
Sathia
