I got one called renamer or something like that for free...

name; I think the author meant to give the impression it has speed of
operation and ease of use - and it does.)

A simple DOS command. Change to the directory you want to rename the
files and type:
ren 00?.jpg dog?.jpg or whatever you want to change them to. Then ren
0??.jpg dog??.jpg and finally ren ???.jpg dog???.jpg should do it.

Or:
for %f in (*.jpg) do ren %f dog%f
But when I did that, it re-renamed the first file again to dogdog001.jpg for
some reason. However, this one worked:
for %f in (0*.jpg) do ren %f dog%f
