Notice that it takes two to tango, that you feel patronised by receiving a
present doesn't mean it's actually that.
Moreover, I rather get a nice present compared to a hand written card
which would cost Google more I guess. I mean, how many valued customers do
you think they have? And how much would it cost to manage and write a
personal message for each?
I once worked for a company that considered it funny to have all employees
sign their Christmas cards. IIRC it were well over 600 cards, and it meant
that hardly any work was done that day (and the next, if memory serves me
well)
And as I said, it takes two to tango: how many of those 600 cards were
getting read in a receiving way?
Most Christmas cards I received in the past got read once, and with a
small exception were thrown away after Christmas. A small present, often
how insignificant and small it is, has often more value, and is more often
looked at. Not to enslave you, but just to give you a nice feeling.
