Default Hotmail heads-up - 05-14-2007, 01:26 AM

Was doing a bit of scripting for a customer (now there's a novelty). The
script was sending an email to a Hotmail account, but the mail wasn't
getting through.

The subject line contained "example.com". Changing it to "example" cured
the problem.

I don't have a Hotmail account so I don't know if it's default to reject
domains in subject lines.

Just a little something to be mindful of.

I should say, I didn't test this. This was all feedback from the customer.

Good Grief Charles! What on earth possessed you to do that?

I have one - you're welcome to test with it if you like. I check it about
once a week, but if I know you want feedback I can look a little more
often. Just give the nod ... as they say.

Never noticed, but then I don't make a habit of mailing myself

update: so, I just sent meself (at hotmail) a mail with one of my
(dot-com) domains in the subject header (from the same domain if that
makes any difference) - arrived in good time - straight into the inbox.

Hmmm, get him / her /it to check the junk folder, it's where all the
e-mail which is thaught to be spam is placed. (I think it's the junk
folder in Hot-Mail anyway, it is known as the Bulk folder in yahoo
mail).
