I was interested in starting an adult website and heard from a friend
that Paypal doesn't allow merchant accounts for adult websites? Is
this true? Thanks.

Is there a reason you didn't ask PayPal?

I sent them an email, but no reply. I was looking on their website for
some info and didn't find it. Thanks for the link.

Paypal is very well known for not responding to questions such as that. I'm not surprised that they didn't reply to you. I know of an investing site that was considering using paypal, but because of the way they like to lock up accounts he wanted to get permission from them first.

They also never replied to him either.

Me and many of my friends and online buddy are webmasters and webdesigners for an Adult site, and they using PAYPAL or xoom.

i think it's only rumors that paypal is not allowing any transaction from an adult site,, it's still money... ^_^

That's more than just rumor. Funds can be frozen if the adult content is discovered. So far your friends have just been really lucky, or are very skilled at hiding the transactions purpose. Have they cl***ified their site as something other than adult... like.."vintage pin ups"?

Thats interesting, with the amount of adult sites out there, I would imagine that some of them must use paypal.
