Default wiki and no wiki site - 06-02-2007, 08:53 PM

Mine is no wiki site and yours? :-))

“anyone can write, if I cancel they can write again the same, so I don’t
cancel; besides your contents are under ‘fare use’ so anyone, also you,
can publish them on my web site“.

This is what answered me the responsble of a f****n wiki website when I
answered him to remove a page their bot has created and entitled to my
web site. In such a page everyone can write whatever he likes of my site
and probabl also of your if tey are astored a page entitled to your web
site; besides they think not to be responsible for this; they say they
can remove the content (and they do it), but they dont'want to remove
the page.
In their FAQ-disclaimer has been written this:

"How do I remove my "thisf***in site" page?
If you completely erase your Wiki Page content, our editors will
consider it vandalism and restore the page. If you would like to remove
your website content (Title & Description) and contact details (Address
& Contact), please only remove the content in those sections.
Other sections, including the reviews, thumbnail, language, external
links, and user-contributed content should remain. "

So I would be a "VANDAL" and they, what are they: I think they are the
"lanzichenecchi of the web", they could raid and rob everything in my
web site and tell me that perhaps I was the person that did it!?
INCREDIBLE!!

I do'authorize them to create a page entitle to my web site, but they
think as above my contents are under ‘fare use’ so anyone, also I, can
publish them on my web site.
So in such a way I can go to your sites and I can take everything and
fill my pages and tell you: I'm not responsible everyone can do it, also
you.

Besides, under “fair use”?
What is it? I’haven’t heard of it in european laws about copyright! So I
answer to myself, I can go on a web magazine and copy whatever I like?
So I work all the day and someone can publish my contents on their web
site!? Very interesting!

If there is no editorial responsible I think will be anyway a
responsible, perhaps are those who create a software "wiki media" that
permit anyone to publish my contents on a different web site!

I’m very amazed: every day I can listen to the radio and Tv US want to
protect copyright on scientific and technical discoveries: they protect,
names, seeds, everything! OK! And who protects my work?

cheers to every one, think and answer, ...if you like

I'm really not sure what you're trying to say here. But I'll try.

Yes, anyone can say anything they want about your site. Of course, if
they write something libelous, you can sue them. And at least in the
United States, hosting companies are not responsible for content -
although whether that extends to the owners of wiki sites, etc., is
being challenged.

And even though you own the copyright on the material, "fair use" allows
others to take excerpts. They can not, however, copy your entire site
(or page).

You need to be talking to an attorney. Often a letter from an attorney
is all it takes to get action.

I'm sorry for my not really good english. I think you have understood
what i mean and I thank you for the answer.
I was only amazed for such a strange situation, but not really angry.
Till now this situation has not created a real damage to my site but it
potentially could happen; i need to know to prevent damages.
So could be interesting if someone could provide me (for example) the
web adress of some US attorney who could interact via-web, could be paid
by credit-card and quickly operate in situations like this.
If I don't answer you to much could be interesting to know which is the
averege fee for such a good trans-oceanic law-service. :-))
thanks

You should start with an attorney in your own country. If he/she feels
the need to contact a U.S. attorney, he/she should direct you.
