Default Is there a quicker way to build links? - 06-02-2007, 08:51 PM

I started link building for my new site (sayworth.co.uk) and this is a
lot of hard work!

I have never bothered to link build before. But I am making more
effort with Sayworth as it is forum/advice based.

Is there a quicker way to get links? I know some people have done this
type of work really quickly. What takes the time is finding the sites,
and then convincing them to link to you without paying them.

In addition to emailing sites to ask for a link, submitting to quality
directories will give you a good start. I do that for my clients and as a
result they always start out with a good solid PR.

Be sure to find some good niche directories on your topic, in addition to
the general directories; those are gold.

Good lists of SEO-friendly directories:

I should add that I'd guess that folks who can do this "really quickly"
without using directories have previously built of lists of good contacts in
their subject area who will likely be willing link partners. And that takes
time.

If you're starting from scratch (without such contacts), submitting to some
good directories will jump start the process, but it's gonna take time &
effort to get solid links from relevant non-directory sites.

Quicker? I don't know. Better? Yes. Write compelling content that people
will want to tell their friends about and link to.

It is a slow process, but over time, it works.

BTW, I never link to people who ask for links, even for pay. I only link
to sites that have excellent content that enhances the user experience
for people visiting my site. I have to ask myself if the benefit to the
user following the link is greater than my own desire to keep people on
my own site. If the answer is yes, which is very rare, I'll provide a link.

You can't ask for a link like that. You have to earn it.

seobook has an interesting article the gist of it is that you can have
the greatest site in the universe but if you dont drive visitors to it
its useless... i think the throw away statement about quality content
is redundant without traffic... just thought it state my point.

Quality content creates targeted traffic; maybe not much traffic in
comparison to crap whose substandard content is artificially inflated
to look good, but really really good traffic. Visitors coming to look
at the good stuff turn into customers. All the visitor gets when he
goes to garbage content is a sour web experience. I understand that it
is difficult for the visitor to decipher the good content from the bad
in the SERPs.

I have never asked anyone to link to my site, and hundreds of people
link to it anyway. About 1/3 of the new visitors to my site were told
about it off-line. I can get over 100,000 targeted hits in one day, and
I have never done any link building.

I am number 3 in Google for my most common search term and number 1 in
Google for my second most common search term.

As far as useless, my site paid all of my living expenses last year. My
income is expected to double this year.

I just thought I'd show how senseless your point is.

It is all about quality content. That isn't a throw-away statement. It
is how traffic is generated. I think I know what I'm talking about.
