Default Site URL Name Question - 06-02-2007, 08:50 PM

Does a URL for a site that uses keywords get a better ranking if it
has dashes? i.e. would

consumer-insurance-group.247life.com be better than
consumerinsurancegroup.247life.com?

I seem to recall that using keywords in the url helps the ranking and
I guess it might make sense that they have to be seperated with dashes
for the SE to recognize the keywords ...

I'd buy both and redirect the joinedupversion to the hyphened-version.
People can remember joinedupones better but you'll get more Google
juice from using hyphened-ones, but don't use
too-many-keywords-in-the-url because that'll make it obvious and
anyhoo, it don't make THAT much difference.

Marginally, yes; people are much more likely to search for a combination of
individual terms than they are for "consumerinsurancegroup" - but as the
relkevant terms almost certainly appear in the <TITLE>, tags, or page
content, it's a small point.

First things first - but not necessarily in that order.
