Default h1, h2, h3 and css - 06-02-2007, 08:50 PM

I saw my whois SEO score was 92% with a keyword relevance of 64%
I'll have to work on keywords.

Google (apparently) attaches more weight to keywords wrapped in H1
tags.

Questions:
1) What about H2, H3 and bold tags? Are they weighted more than plain
text but less than H1?

2) H1 tags wrapping selected keywords make my top-level page look like
a skin disease.
If I used css to make H1 tags appear still bold and large, but
less prominent than the
average browser defaults, would that be construed as cheating the
bots?

Yuppers. Mostly, don't know about bold though. Some say.

Just one per customer, remember.

I do it whenever I think it's appropriate.

It's not cheating at all; that's what CSS is for. No worries.

a) I doubt it. I'm using CSS quite agressively to make a set of pages
browsable in handhelds as well as on cl***ic PC screens. This
involves screwing down <h1>s to the smallest displayable text on
handhelds.

b) All my CSS is externalised. When was the last time you saw the
Googlebot download a CSS file?

If you think about it, CSS is one of Google's great exposures. In
theory, to check for hidden text, the Googlebot would have to download
the CSS file every time it crawled a page. But it's easy to spot the
bot and p*** it a different CSS than the one the normal user would get.

using h1/h2/h3 on targeted keywords are good idea and using css style is also very good idea. These will help in proper optimization
