Here's a really, really basic question. Could someone please tell me what
the "->" symbol means? I've seen it in a few PHP manual references, but I
don't
understand it, and I can't find where it's defined in the manual. It looks
like an operator, but what is it?

Dear Walt, it means it is part of an object. Have a look at

http://www.php.net/manual/en/language.oop.php

Good luck
Martin
