I'm not sure I'd go that far! Sounds a little like overkill to me!

The site I like generally has them posted in the chat section, perhaps one a day. They're normally on silly subjects rather than anything particularly on topic, but they allow users to get to know each other a bit more.

Funny enough on ours, we have a forum specifically for Polls. The point being that with our general chat section being so busy (500-700 posts a day) Any Poll added disappears off the front page very quickly unless I sticky them.

Too many stickies on the front of a forum is messy so I don't like to do it. The way I look at it, if a thread is interesting, it will stay at the top on its own, because people will keep adding to it.

With Polls, many will vote without adding text, so the poll slips down the page very fast. Putting it in it's own forum means that the current polls are easily accessible.

Not a big fan of Polls myself, and rarely vote in them, but the members like to have them so who am i to argue? We also have an 'unwritten rule' that every poll must have a variation of a 'don't give a damn' option

LOL, well it wasn't my site! But yeah, it did look like overkill to me too. I don't think I looked past the first thread...

well ours are generally on topic.. regarding a particular players performance, or team selection/tactics for a specific game, or whether we should buy/sell any player. Do occasionally have a 'what's your favourite cheese' type poll as well though

In your case Stav, there's going to be lots of on-topic poll material available which will naturally keep updating itself (after every game I suppose).

It's the 'what's your favourite type of cheese' questions that seem to get the best responses on my favourite forum though. I guess users are looking for bit of light relief!

The best way to keep a forum going is to allow people to be free to express even unpopular opinions. With the exception of forums for children, the less moderation the better.
