You really have to get the word out any way you can. Talk to people - add it to your e-mail signatures. |

One more thing, make sure you don't make tons of forum categories. If you have very few posters, and lots of empty forum categories, new members will look at that and be scared off. Make your site look busy. |

The other thing I have found is that you can change the colours (people will complain....but that's it) but if you change where their buttons are, they freak. People like their forums to stay the same in design.....even while they complain about wanting this or that. Give it to them and they get really hyper. |

Depending on the kind of software you use, one way is to change the skin. No-one likes to see a default skin. Ever seen how great the cars on Pimp my Ride look? Well how about Pimp my Forum? Appearance is very important for visitors, if they sign on and say "Woah, this place looks good". It might just keep them around. |
