Surely that would go against free speech? Where would one draw the line between expressing an opinion & trying to convert someone else to it?

If you feel uncomfortable that someone is trying to convert you, just say that you're not interested!

I have a couple of things on my front door and front window that should make "recruiters" leave without knocking, but every few months someone chooses to ignore them.

I have decided to take information the next time this happens, and look into taking leagl action. They are, after all, coming onto my private property and ignoring the warnings.

This really depends on the position you hold on a forum. Normal members of a forum will not have a problem offending anyone so discussing religion is not a problem for them. Someone with a kind of power such as a Moderator or an Administrator should be more careful when discussing religion. Personally I stay out of the conversations.

My forums are all open and no topics are off limits. I have found that those who push their agenda harshly are met with "forum justice" by the other members.

I should also say that I post and participate fully in all my forums. Everyone knows that I (ACCER) am the owner. They also know that they are free to argue/debate with ACCER all they want. If the Admin says something though, they have to obey. It works well as long as the admin doesn't try to use it to win fights.

I don't think it is a free speech issue when addressing someone with an obvious eye toward conversion.

Free speech would be simply stating your opinion.

Conversion leaves that behind and start using arguments to convince the listener to share that same opinion, or to engage in activities that support the speaker's position.

In the US, freedom of speech is limited only when it becomes threatening or har***ing. If trying to persuade someone else to your way of thinking was not considered to be covered under the freedom of speech, no politician would be safe.

Hmmm....now that I think about it, maybe we SHOULD change it....
