Button pushing topics are what keep forums active. Other than people that really do want to talk about religion, the people that start these topics are probably just looking to start a long lasting thread. Either way, a religious thread will usually be pretty interesting.

Not all religions or spiritual paths proselytize, but Christians do, and that is where the problem lies. Christians take offense when they are asked to stop.

I think that peoples opinions about religion should be respected. As long as it doesn't get too insulting and harra.ssing, I see no reason to ban people from my forum just because they talked about mas.s or the solstice

The thing is that religion cannot be discussed in a reasonable manner by most people. There is always someone who wants to push their point of view onto others. If you can be reasonable then why not discuss it,but sadly reason doesn't often go with religion.

Yeah I've seen people not agree with other peoples points of view, but tell them, they understand where there coming from, and it really pisses some people off. Some things are either black or white (for some that is), and no amount of conversation will help.

LOL

So true! There are times I wonder why those with minds already made up, even read the controversial topics. It as been my experience that many that fall under that category tend to go into personal attacks quicker than those who are open to discussion.

My family friends are from India and I would like to put up this incident with you all, there was a person who came up to them and spoke real sweetly and gave a book which specified that Hindu god are all nonsense and untrue. It is individual belief and such incidents really make all humans really separate.

It is interesting how those who are trying to convert, come across with all the concern in the world. I think there should be a law against this!

It has to be one of the most uncomfortable feelings in the world to get preached to like that. Stuff like that makes me think twice about opening my front door...

I am all for live and let live and try to respect other people's beliefs even if they seem ridiculous to me. What I won't have though is people trying to convert me to whatever deity is currently the flavour of the month.
