What do I hate about posting? Well, all of the stuff you've already mentioned so far. Plus, one thing you see in bigger forums, "bump" posting. A lot of forums have a word or character minimum, which I think is necessary, but not all. People usually only do this when they were the original author of the thread, and they notice that no one else is commenting on there post.

What is really irritating are the ones who quote all the comments above them, and then just add a smiley at the bottom GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!

Just to get their post count up!

I hate it when people just keep a topic going back and forth and there is really nothing left to be said about it, but they do it just because they haven't thought of anything new to come up with.

those who go around resurrecting dead threads weeks later, just to say 'i agree' or something similar... how annoying is that?

Not always a bad thing. This happens occ***ionally on my favourite forum, and is normally done by one of the mods when they think it'd be beneficial to bring the topic back, maybe because it's seasonal, or something has come up in the news.

LOL.. We do get some on ours who indulge in 'thread necrophilia' as we call it. Sometimes it's a case of news being added and the original post is resurrected rather than starting a new one, which is fair enough.

Had one youngster though recently, who had found out the number of posts required to reach the next level of user titles, who went and added a 'grin' smiley onto the end of every joke in our time wasters forum, in order to get there.

So i deleted them all, and created a new user title just for him, 'This thread is dead'

What about people who sign up for forums and really have no clue what the topic is about? OK, I can understand wanting to learn about something and asking questions, but acting like you know what you are talking about, and not really having a clue is annoying.

Anyone doing that sounds a bit lonely if you ask me. They might not know anything about the subject or anyone on the board, so they just start posting anywhere. I guess you have to start somewhere!

So true. It is easy to forget what it is like when learning a new topic. Sometimes you just have to take a deep breath and ignore the post.

Something I hate is the private message that addresses a religious topic, with the intent to convert. There is someone going around on boards saying hello and then posting something about Buddhism, in PM.

Surely they can find something else to do!
